Participants will engage in conversation about the best ways to improve transit for Pacifica. The objectives of the event are to get public input on how to improve transit for Pacifica and to build public support for improved transit, according to City Manager Lorie Tinfow.
The Pacifica Climate Committee, a local citizens group, worked with the City in past years to develop an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions generated by Pacificans and a Climate Action Plan to come up with ways to reduce those emissions. One of the findings of the inventory was that 50% of the emissions are from transportation, and people driving to and from work in San Francisco are a major part of that. The climate action plan calls for the city to engage in educational activities around reducing emissions and this event is part of that work.
