Pacifica Man Killed In Inner Richmond Crash Early This Morning

A man who died in a crash in San Francisco's Inner Richmond
neighborhood early this morning has been identified by the medical examiner's office as 57-year-old Leonid Stoliarov, of Pacifica.

The crash happened at about 2:15 a.m. at Geary and Arguello boulevards, police said.

Witnesses reported seeing a black Audi A4 traveling at high speeds and running red lights as it traveled east on Geary Boulevard, police said.

As the Audi ran another red light at Arguello Boulevard, it crashed into a gray Mazda driven by Stoliarov, according to police. Stoliarov died at the scene.

The driver of the Audi, a 31-year-old man whose name has not yet been released, was hospitalized with minor injuries and is expected to survive.

The man has been detained at the hospital and will be booked into jail once he recovers and is cleared by doctors, police Lt. Lyn Tomioka said.

Tomioka did not know exactly what charges the man may face. Police are investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

Traffic and San Francisco Municipal Railway bus service along Geary Boulevard was detoured for nearly five hours due to the crash, Muni spokesman Paul Rose said.
