Nominations sought for Pacifica Beautification - Mayors' Pacifica Pride Awards

Nominations are OPEN for the Pacifica Beautification Advisory Committee (BAC) first Mayors’ Pacifica Pride awards for local residences and businesses. The purpose of the awards is to encourage community members and businesses to make their properties as inviting and beautiful as our local hills and ocean.
The BAC has selected a panel of Pacifica volunteer committee members who will screen and review the entries, and select the winners. The Pacifica Pride Awards Committee (PPAC) will be looking for newer improvements that are visible from the street (curb appeal), and enhance the neighborhood. Structural improvement could be new paint/siding, structural changes, retaining walls, roofing, solar, and use of recycled material. Garden or landscape improvement could be drought tolerant, best maintained, sustainable, edible or native plants, best pollinator friendly garden, or use of recycled material. Community members can nominate a residence or business for a Garden/Landscape Award or a Structural Improvement Award or both. You can even nominate your own home or business. The PPAC anticipates receiving a lot of entries showcasing the many lovely residences and businesses in Pacifica.
Download the rules and nomination application fromhttp://www.cityofpacifica.org, pick one up at select businesses in town and municipal city buildings. Or you might find one at your door that was placed by a PPAC member who recognizes your Pacifica Pride and wants to see you participate.

In this year of drought you can find ways to save water and still beautify your landscapes by applying for the “Lawn Be Gone” program that is offered by Bay Area Water Supply & Conservation Agency (BAWSCA). They will rebate $1 per square foot of lawn that is converted to a drought tolerant garden, up to 1,000 square feet. You can find out more information at www.bawsca.org, or pick up an application at the North Coast County Water District offices.
Deadline for entry is Wednesday, October 15. Send or drop off all nominations to Pacifica Pride Awards, Pacifica City Hall at 170 Santa Maria Ave.
