UPDATE: Pacifica Man Dies After Fall From Pier
The local resident reportedly went into the water after a woman he was with was knocked down by a wave.

PACIFICA, CA- A 60-year-old man died after he and a woman were rescued from near the Pacifica Pier on Tuesday afternoon, according to U.S. Coast Guard and fire officials.
The San Mateo County coroner’s office has identified Pacifica resident Larry Moore as the man who fell off the pier into the ocean along with the woman around 2 p.m., according to the Coast Guard.
Witnesses say that the woman was first knocked into the water, and Moore went in after her.
The woman was able to make it back to shallow water and onto the beach but More was taken out into the ocean and was not readily visible from shore, North County Fire Authority officials said.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew was able to locate Moore and a rescuer was lowered into the water to hoist him up to be flown to shore, fire officials said. He was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The woman was also hospitalized for further evaluation and treatment, fire officials said.
