City Of Menifee Cancels Events Due To Coronavirus

The city announced it canceled events in light of an order issued Thursday by Riverside County's public health officer.

MENIFEE, CA — Based on the latest recommendations from the State Department of Public Health and the Riverside County Public Health Department to slow the spread of coronavirus in Riverside County, the city of Menifee is taking action.

The city has postponed the following events:

  • March 28 – Multicultural Festival
  • April 4 - Music and Arts Festival
  • April 11 – Spring Fest + Centennial Park Grand Opening
  • The Senior Center and Lazy Creek Center are closed, and all contract classes, programs, and activities at the venues are canceled until April 14
  • The Audie Murphy Skate Park is closed until April 14

For all seniors who are dependent on meals at the Senior Center, an opportunity will be provided for meal pick-up for the day or the week starting Monday, March 16 at noon- 2 p.m. at 29995 Evans Road, Menifee, according to the city.

"Based on the latest situational updates, the city plans to evaluate the status of these programs on a weekly basis. In the meantime, other city programs will continue to operate as scheduled while staff follow all protocol and preventative recommendations and procedures, exercising good public health policy in the process," a city statement read.

The city announced it canceled events in light of an order issued Thursday by Riverside County's public health officer amid coronavirus concerns. The order issued by Dr. Cameron Kaiser of Riverside University Health Systems-Public Health states that all events with expected attendance above 250 people are cancelled within the county beginning March 12 through April 30, 2020, regardless of venue.

As of Friday late afternoon, Riverside County has 12 confirmed COVID-19 cases — 10 in Coachella Valley and two cruise ship passengers who have not returned to the region since being diagnosed.
