'Bighorn Cares' Donates $500K To Coachella Valley Charities

PALM DESERT, CA – "BIGHORN Cares" announced this week that 61 Coachella Valley non-profits that serve the citizens in the area were selected to to receive $503,172 in grant funding.

“These organizations make a huge difference in the lives of so many Coachella Valley residents of all ages,” said Joe Kirby, BIGHORN Cares chairman. “It’s a privilege to be able to help so many non-profits and I’m proud of our residents and donors.”

Since its founding, BIGHORN Cares was developed as a "Golf Club Charities" to fund specific projects by local non-profits and is supported by member contributions and OneWest Bank, with 100 percent of funds going to local agencies. More than 140 applications were received with requests for over $1.8 million in funds.

“It’s always difficult to select one organization over another, however, as in previous years, we feel those receiving the grants represent a wide-range of deserving people and programs in the area,” Kirby said.

Funds will be awarded at a recognition event to be held in January at BIGHORN. Applications for the next round of funding will be available in June 2019.
