Car Careens Off Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Parking Lot Embankment

One person was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, and two other people did not sustain any injuries.

PALM SPRINGS, CA —A vehicle careened over an embankment near the lower parking area of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway on Thursday, officials say. Three people inside required rescue during the incident, according to the Palm Springs Fire Department.

At 10 a.m., firefighters rushed to the scene of One Tram Way, where the car went over the embankment in the lower parking area, according to the Palm Springs Fire Department.

"One vehicle went over a steep dirt embankment near the lower parking lot at the tram station. We utilized rescue systems to haul a patient to safety," the agency stated.

"This was a unique incident," they said. "Agencies worked together to resolve the situation."
