COD Football Investigation Goes in New Direction

State Athletic Commissioners to take over probe into football program, at school's request.

College of the Desert has changed plans on it's investigation into its own football program, wanting investigators to have no connection to the college.

The original investigation was to be headed by former Riverside County District Attorney Grover Trask.

Red flags were raised in the community as Trask is special counsel for Best, Best & Krieger, a law firm that also represents College of the Desert and the City of Palm Desert.

The investigation is being turned over to comissioners of the Southern California Football Association and the Foothill Athletic Conference to see if the team was involved in any wrong doing.

The team faces allegations of illegal player recruiting and lack of control over players.
