Community Raises $110K in Two Days for Family of Electrocuted Father

The Burlingame tech executive died in an Easter Sunday tragedy, trying to save his daughter from an electrified pool.

PALM SPRINGS, CA- Hundreds of people, many of them strangers, are showing an outpouring of love and financial support for the family of a Northern California father who lost his life, while saving that of his daughter.

James 'Jim' Tramel died on Easter Sunday, when he jumped into an electrified pool to rescue his 9-year-old daughter while she was being electrically shocked in a Palm Springs swimming pool, according to police and coroner's officials.

Tramel was pronounced dead at 4:42 p.m. Sunday, and his daughter remains in critical condition at Loma Linda Medical University, according to authorities. Another daughter, 10, was also hospitalized in stable condition. Police told Patch Wednesday that an update on their condition is not available.

Faulty pool wiring is being blamed for the incident.

On Monday, a co-worker– RevJet founder and CEO Mitchell Weisman– established a GoFundMe page for Tramel's family.

"We are, in a word, heartbroken," Weisman wrote on the crowd-funding page.

An attached photo shows the loving husband and father, embracing his three children and wife, Kim. As of noon Wednesday, more than $111,600 had been donated to them.

Weisman writes of the fundraising effort:

Jim's lovely wife Kim and their children now face the future without a husband, and without a father. Even worse, at this very moment Jim's oldest child remains in intensive care, fighting for her life. Please pray with us for her survival and recovery.

Please donate generously to this fund which will be presented to Jim's wife Kim as a stipend, for use by Kim as she chooses for the welfare and education of her children, and/or as one or more donation(s) to some deserving non-profit(s) of her choice.

We are SO thankful for any help you can provide.
