Paul, a piano prodigy, lives a completely sheltered existence, cut off from the outside world, raised and smothered by his two eccentric aunts since the death of his parents when he was a toddler. His life consists solely of continual piano practice, until he meets his eccentric neighbor Madame Proust and his entire world is turned upside down as she helps Paul uncover the secrets of his own past.
