
THOUSAND PALMS, CA — A magnitude 3.0 earthquake shook the Coachella Valley on Monday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reports. The quake hit at 12:37 p.m. local time and was centered:
- 11.2 mi ENE of Thousand Palms
- 12.4 mi N of Indio
- 13.7 mi NNE of Indian Wells
- 14.9 mi NE of Palm Desert
- 18.6 mi ENE of Palm Springs
In addition to the 3.0 temblor, seven other quakes -- ranging from magnitude 0.6 to magnitude 1.5 -- were recorded in the region between about 2 a.m. and 1 p.m. near Thousand Palms and Coachella, data showed.
