Everybody Has to Have Guns, Eagles of Death Metal Frontman Says

In an emotional new interview, Jesse Hughes speaks his mind on gun control.

PALM DESERT, CA- As the Coachella Valley-based rock band Eagles of Death Metal prepares to take center stage again Tuesday in Paris– three months after a deadly terrorist attack claimed the lives of dozens of their fans– the band’s front man is speaking out on the issue of gun control.

In an emotional interview with a French television station, Jesse Hughes spoke through tears against gun control. Asked about the controversial issue by the interviewer, Hughes had this to say:

“Did your French gun control stop a single f***ing person from dying at the Bataclan? And if anyone can answer yes, I’d like to hear it, because I don’t think so. I think the only thing that stopped it was some of the bravest men that I’ve ever seen in my life charging headfirst into the face of death with their firearms...

“...I think the only way my mind has been changed is maybe that until nobody has guns, everybody has to have them, because I don’t ever want to see anything like this ever happen again. And I want everyone to have the best chance to live.”

Hughes and EODM are set to appear in their first full concert in Paris since the infamous Nov. 13 terrorist attack which ultimately claimed the lives of 89 people at the show. They appeared back in December alongside U2 to perform a couple songs.

Eagles of Death Metal was formed in the Coachella Valley in 1998 by Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme of the platinum-selling band Queens of the Stone Age. Homme was not part of the quintet touring European cities in support of the CD, “Zipper Down.”
