Flash Flood Watch Issued For Palm Desert, Coachella Valley
Forecasters predict a week of scattered showers and thunderstorms.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Scattered showers and thunderstorms moving across the Coachella Valley Monday morning are forecast to continue into the night with a flash flood watch issued through 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Widespread showers will continue to track from east to west across the region through the morning. In the afternoon, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mostly in the mountains, particularly in San Bernardino and Riverside counties, according to the NWS.
The stormy weather will most likely hit "along the Elsinore convergence zone between Lake Elsinore and Beaumont," the NWS reported.

A few afternoon storms could be intense, producing severe weather in addition to the intense rain. By sunset, the storms should be finishing up, according to the NWS.
The upper low system responsible for all the activity will move north Monday night and Tuesday, sweeping away much of the moisture, the NWS said.

There is only a small chance of thunderstorms in the mountains and high desert Tuesday afternoon.
"Even drier air comes in Wednesday, preventing any thunderstorms," according to the NWS.
A little more moisture returns Thursday for a slight chance for afternoon thunderstorms mainly in the mountains, and more moisture could arrive Friday and Saturday for increasing chances of afternoon thunderstorms, the NWS reported.
A flash flood warning was issued Sunday for parts of eastern Riverside County. The warning was in place through 6:45 p.m.
During flash flood events, motorists are reminded to turn around if they see flooding ahead.
"Most flood deaths occur in vehicles," the NWS warned.
