Free Palm Desert Outdoor Concert Series Starts Thursday

The city's weekly Fall Concert Series will start at 6 p.m.

A series of free outdoor concerts will begin Thursday night in Palm Desert.

The city’s weekly Fall Concert Series will start at 6 p.m., with The Secret Jazz Band and vocalist Katie Harris taking the stage. The band, which has appeared on television and in such films as “Legally Blonde” and “What Lies Beneath,” specializes in classic jazz standards, according to city spokesman David Hermann.

-- Oct. 9: Zulluu, African fusion;

-- Oct. 16: Moonsville Collective, Americana and bluegrass;

-- Oct. 23: The Long Run, Eagles tribute band; and

-- Oct. 30, Blue Breeze Band, Motown and R&B.

All concerts start at 6 p.m. in Civic Center Park, 73510 Fred Waring Drive.

Concertgoers are urged to bring picnic dinners, blankets and lawn chairs. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. Alcoholic drinks and smoking are prohibited.
