Excessive Heat Warning Issued For Coachella Valley
The heat wave is forecast to last through the weekend.
COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — An excessive heat warning has been issued for the Coachella Valley and Pass Area as high pressure to the east will continue a warming trend through the weekend, with hotter and drier conditions across the region.
The excessive heat warning was issued Wednesday and stretches through 9 p.m. Sunday. During the four-day heat wave, daytime high temperatures are forecast to reach 110 in the Pass Area, according to the National Weather Service.
More torrid conditions are forecast in the Coachella Valley, with dangerously hot conditions. Daytime high temperatures are forecast to reach 114 throughout the period, according to the NWS.

"Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities," the NWS warned. "Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
"Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances," the agency continued. "Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke."
