Indian Wells Arts Festival Begins 3-Day Run Friday

More than 200 artists from around the world are headed out to the event, organizers say.

INDIAN WELLS, CA - The 14th annual Indian Wells Arts Festival starts its three-day run Friday, featuring more than 200 artists from around the world.

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. and runs through 5 p.m. each day at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

Throughout the festival, attendees will be able to view artworks spanning a variety of genres and mediums, and see on-site demonstrations of glass blowing, sculpting, painting, weaving, wood carving and pottery throwing.

Interactive art activities will be available for youngsters of all ages. The Indio nonprofit S.C.R.A.P. Gallery will present a "Recycle Bicycles" exhibit, as well as offer Madd Hatter hat-making using recycled shopping bags and sidewalk chalk drawing.

Live entertainment will be provided by the Rumproller Organ Trio and the Aztec Dancers from the International Dance Club at Desert Mirage High School in Thermal.

Food and refreshments will be provided by a number of local vendors.

Tickets will be available at the front gate at a cost of $13 for adults. Children 12 and under get in free. Pets are not permitted, but service animals are welcome.

Parking for the festival is free.
