Las Vegas Man Suspected In Cathedral City Stabbings

CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — A Las Vegas man accused of attacking two co-workers inside their Airbnb rental, one of whom was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds, is jailed in lieu of $1 million bail and facing attempted murder and assault charges, Cathedral City police and prosecutors said Friday.

Francisco Michael Fisher, 21, was arrested Tuesday, after police went to a home in the 68300 block of Tachevah Road around 4 a.m. on a report of a stabbing in progress, according Cathedral City police Cmdr. Paul Herrera.

They found a 20-year-old man with stab wounds to the back, head and upper body, Herrera said. The victim, whose name was withheld, was transported to a local hospital with injuries that police described as serious.

After stabbing the 20-year-old, Fisher allegedly stabbed another man who was attempting the stop the initial assault, according to police. That man was treated at a local hospital and released.

Police also alleged that Fisher was combative with police officers upon their arrival.

According to police, the group was in town for a work-related conference and Fisher had apparently made social media posts that his co-workers found disturbing or unusual, and which police described as "despondent."

Fischer was charged Thursday with one count each of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He also faces several sentence enhancement allegations, including using a weapon during a felony and causing great bodily injury.

The defendant pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to return to the Larson Justice Center in Indio on Feb. 3 for a felony settlement conference.
