1 Dead, 1 Seriously Injured In Dillon Road Crash
The fatal wreck was reported near Superior Ready Mix's Indio location.
INDIO, CA — A solo-vehicle rollover crash near Indio left one person dead and another seriously injured Wednesday morning.
The fatal wreck was reported shortly before 9 a.m. near Superior Ready Mix, 35905 Dillon Road.
According to witness reports to the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and rolled over onto the road's right shoulder.

The CHP later confirmed that a 22-year-old Cathedral City woman driving a Nissan Altima was heading south on Dillon, south of Berdoo Canyon Road, when she attempted to pass slower traffic ahead. When she drove into the northbound traffic lane, she "made an unsafe turning movement to the right" to avoid a head-on crash and lost control of the Altima, according to the CHP.
The car rolled over several times, the CHP confirmed.

The woman and her female passenger were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected during the crash, according to the CHP.
The driver, identified by the coroner as Desiray Ramirez, died at the scene. Her passenger was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center with major injuries, according to the CHP.
No other injuries were reported.
Road closures were in place near the area.
The crash was being investigated by the CHP.
