Monsoons Continue In Coachella Valley, Flood Watch Issued

PALM DESERT, CA — A flood watch remains in effect across Palm Desert and the Coachella Valley as scattered thunderstorms continue in the forecast.

Monsoonal moisture will bring scattered thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and early evening for the mountains and portions of the adjacent deserts and inland valleys, with a flood watch issued through 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Coachella Valley, according to the National Weather Service

Palm Desert will see a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11 a.m. Wednesday with a daytime high near 102 and heat index values as high as 106.

Overnight temperatures will cool to around 83, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m.

The humidity is expected to diminish Thursday and Friday, but monsoonal moisture with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms return for the mountains Saturday through Monday. Some cooling and drying are possible for the middle of next week, according to the NWS.
