Palm Desert Aquatic Center Offers Special Hours For Labor Day Weekend

September swim lesson sign-ups, training for Y Be Fit, the Lazy Man Triathlon and more.

PALM DESERT, CA - From the Palm Desert Aquatic Center: Although summer is coming to a close, there is still plenty to do at Palm Desert Aquatic Center (PDAC). From swim lessons to lap swimming, training for the Y Be Fit Palm Desert Challenge, or taking on the Lazy Man’s Triathlon, PDAC has something for everyone.

Before saying an official goodbye to summer, there is still fun to be had at PDAC throughout Labor Day Weekend, as the Splash Playground, slides, and diving boards will be open 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 4th (the diving boards will close at 3:00 p.m. on Monday). The concession stands will also be open 11:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. throughout the weekend.

With the exception of Labor Day Weekend, PDAC has returned to regular business hours; the Splash Playground, slides, and diving boards are closed Monday-Friday and open on the weekends 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. through the end of September, when they will close for the season. The deadline to sign-up for September youth swim lessons is September 8th. The swim lessons are half-hour long classes that will start on September 11th, and will be held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with the optional times of 4:00-4:30 p.m., 4:40-5:10 p.m., 5:20-5:50 p.m., or 6:00-6:30 p.m. The fee for Palm Desert residents is $60.00, $80 for non-residents. September 1st marks the kick off of PDAC’s Lazy Man’s Triathlon. Although the ironman triathlon is one of the hardest events in the world, the Lazy Man’s Triathlon gives participants a full month to complete the entire triathlon. Sign up at PDAC to receive a tracking form; track your own miles (on the honor system) as you swim, run and cycle throughout the month; turn your completed form into PDAC by October 1st to receive your t-shirt. The 4th Annual Y Be Fit Palm Desert Challenge is on October 1st and participants of the Reverse Mini-Triathlon have been training for the swimming portion of the event at PDAC. Participants can train during the lap swim times. PDAC has offered to help match participants with potential teammates, so if you are a cycling enthusiast, or a runner, but not a swimmer, call PDAC today to get matched up with a partner who will take over that part of the event!
