Palm Desert Sewer Line Break Prompts Road Closure

CVWD officials asked motorists to avoid the area.

PALM DESERT, CA — A sewer line break on the border of Palm Desert and Indian Wells led to traffic issues in the area on Wednesday. Coachella Valley Water District officials urged motorists to avoid the intersection of Washington Street and Fred Waring Drive due to the emergency.

"Crews from Coachella Valley Water District are at the scene of the break and have begun repairs and will remain on site until all work is complete," the water district said in an emailed statement. "The break occurred Wednesday morning."

La Quinta police said two of the southbound lanes on Washington were closed "and will most likely be closed the rest of the day."
