Palm Springs Intl. Airport Leader Taking Off For Sacramento

Harry Barrett, Jr. will remain at PSP through May 21, before beginning his new role in Sacramento on May 26.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Palm Springs International Airport announced Monday that Executive Director of Aviation Harry Barrett, Jr., A.A.E., will depart his role later this spring to become assistant director of the Sacramento County Department of Airports.

Barrett will remain at PSP through May 21 and will begin his new role in Sacramento on May 26, according to PSP.

Barrett's replacement has not been named. The city of Palm Springs is expected to share more information at a later date. In the meantime, PSP’s executive leadership team will continue overseeing day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives at the airport during the transition period, according to PSP.

On Monday, Palm Springs City Manager Scott Stiles thanked Barrett for his leadership.

“Harry has helped guide Palm Springs International Airport through an important period of growth and progress,” Stiles said. “We appreciate his leadership and his commitment to a thoughtful transition. PSP has a strong foundation, experienced leadership throughout the organization, and important work already underway that will continue without interruption.”

Airport Commission Chairman Kevin J. Corcoran said PSP priorities will continue.

“Harry has played an important role in PSP’s recent success, helping strengthen airline relationships, improve the passenger experience, and advance critical planning efforts,” Corcoran said. “We thank him for his service and wish him continued success. PSP is well-positioned for the future, with clear priorities that will continue guiding the airport forward.”
