Pedestrian Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver ID'd As Palm Springs Resident

Ricardo Marano, 56, was found an unresponsive in the roadway. He appeared to have been struck by a vehicle, authorities said.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — A vehicle suspected of being involved in a hit- and-run crash that killed a 56-year-old pedestrian in Palm Springs was seized by investigators Tuesday, but no arrests were immediately reported.

Ricardo Marano of Palm Springs was fatally injured around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the area of 1011 E. Vista Chino, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

Arriving officers found Marano lying in the eastbound lane of traffic. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect vehicle, a black 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, was seized Tuesday when investigators served a search warrant in Thousand Palms, police said.

No arrests were immediately made, and the owner of the vehicle was not identified.
