Rebel Art Space Showcases the Work of Michael Jones

Michael Jones saw street art as a way to bring his message of optimism and hope.

From Rebel Art Space:

Driving to his job with NASA at the JPL labs in Pasadena, Michael Jones saw the street art as a way to bring his message of optimism and hope to those with little of either. Jones created his tag persona and began changing the conversation in east LA with artwork that declared Dream Big (ger), believe in yourself and go for it all. Jones, who looks like one his personal inspirations, Basquiat, has continued his painting and brings his first solo show to Rebel Art Space in the Backstreet Arts District. His iconic and powerful pop art transforms the gallery into a colorful street art playground complete with movie seats and a giant throne. The show will be on display thru the summer.

Rebel Art Space is the newest gallery to open in Palm Springs south end Backstreet Arts District. Rebel is the collaboration of three longtime friends who share a love of art along with their Southern Heritage. Kerry Hamilton, Lucius Lamar and Melanie Brenner have long discussed their vision of a space for new and new to the area artists to be exposed to the burgeoning art world of the Coachella Valley. When a storefront became available in the mid-century Backstreet Arts District, the partners decided it was time to make their dream a reality.

Rebel Art Space is located at 2604 South Cherokee Way in Palm Springs behind the Estate Sale Store. Regular business hours are Wednesday thru Sunday from 11 to 4. By appointment contact Melanie Brenner at (760) 549-1906 or (561) 373-4184.
