Spotlight 29 Donates $30,000 To Help Native American Students

Spotlight 29 Casino and Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians presented a check for $30K to the Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation.

From Spotlight 29 Casino: Spotlight 29 Casino and the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians recently presented a check for $30,000 to the Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation (TAMSF). The Foundation is committed to helping Native American students, qualifying students in the Coachella Valley, the Morongo Basin, and employees and their dependents of any entity of the Tribe in reaching their academic goals while extending outreach to their communities.

General Manager Michael Frawley presented the check on behalf of Spotlight 29 to Tribal Chairman Darrell Mike, to the former Chairman and current President of the Theresa A. Mike Foundation Dean Mike, Theresa Mike, and Director of Community Affairs Robert Paull.

"For more than two decades, the Theresa A. Mike Foundation has dedicated itself to developing a sense of cultural richness and pride, while bridging a gap between the Tribe's unique history and its unlimited future," said Frawley. "In order to make that mission possible the Foundation relies on fundraisers and donations, and we're extremely proud to help further their mission."

Since its inception in 1998, the Theresa A. Mike Foundation has given more than $600,000 in scholarships to more than 700 worthy recipients. Its major fundraising effort, the 21st Annual Theresa A. Mike Fashion Show, will take place on Saturday, June 16 at 6 p.m. in the Spotlight Showroom.

Hosted by local radio personality Dan McGrath of SUNNY 103.1 FM, the theme is Cirque du TAM, featuring Le PeTiT CiRqUe talented contortionists, acrobats, aerialists, martial artists, vocalists and musicians. Guests will also enjoy a delicious sit-down dinner and an exciting runway show showcasing men's, women's and children's fashions from JC Penney at the Westfield Shopping Mall and Grayse on El Paseo.

Attendees will have a chance to bid on silent auction items and win raffle prizes including incredible restaurant certificates, spa packages, decadent gift baskets, hotel packages, and more.

Raffle tickets are $20 for five tickets, or $100 for 25 regular tickets and one grand prize drawing opportunity. Grand prizes include two annual passes to Disneyland, a recliner, a barbecue grill, an iPad, and a 65-inch Samsung Curve 4K TV!

Tickets are $65 per person or $520 for a table for eight. Limited VIP runway seating is $650 for table of eight. VIP Kings Row Booths for four are available for $700, and VIP Queens Row Booths for four are $600.
