Volunteers Sought To Help Clean, Improve Joshua Tree Nat'l Park

Volunteers will take part in "micro-trash pick-up & trails improvement" alongside Joshua Tree staff and get a 1-day park pass for their time

INDIO, CA — Volunteers are being sought to work side by side with park staff during Joshua Tree National Park's Public Lands Day Saturday.

The 25th annual National Public Lands Day, which also is a free entrance day for park visitors, is "the largest single day of volunteerism each year on America's public lands," according to park officials, who said more than 200,000 volunteers participated during last year's event.

Volunteers will take part in "micro-trash pick-up and trails improvement" alongside Joshua Tree staff from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Volunteers should bring water, sunscreen and appropriate footwear. All participants will receive a one-day park pass for their time Saturday.

Registration is between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. at the Oasis Visitor Center, 77485 National Park Drive.
