Woman Struck And Killed By Vehicle In Palm Desert

PALM DESERT, CA — A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday morning in Palm Desert, and an investigation into the crash is ongoing, authorities said Wednesday.

Deputies responded around 7:40 a.m. to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle near Portola Avenue and Frank Sinatra Drive. The woman suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

No other injuries were reported.

Authorities said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. It did not appear alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.

The woman has not been identified yet pending notification to her next of kin.
