Xavier Prep Students Receive AP Scholar Awards

The College Board's Advanced Placement Program (AP) provides students with the opportunity to take college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit.

Nearly two dozen students have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their achievement on AP Exams, according to a school spokesperson.

Only 18 percent of the more than 1.8 million students who took AP Exams earned an AP Scholar Award, according to Laura Hall, the school's spokesperson.

Xavier had three students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction by earning an average score of 4.15 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students were senior Abigail Gopez, junior Lien Le and senior Adetola Omilana, according to Hall.

Four students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students were junior Aubrey Almanza, senior Matthew Friscia, junior Brigitte Stenmoen and junior Shamara Valdez.

Thirteen students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher. Those students were Jorden Bongard, Creighton Chaney, David Danos, Angel Estrada, Patrick Go, Samir Khanna, Alyssa Kueneman, Angel Medina, Evan Ross, Aurora Saldivar, Gabriella Siquerios, Caroline Stickell and Alyssa Zack.

Xavier College Preparatory High School is currently in its sixth year.
