City to host listening sessions on heat and shade mitigation plan this fall ⋆ The Palm Springs Post (thepalmspringspost.com) — Palm Springs is inviting residents to a series of free listening sessions this fall to shape a new $400,000 shade and heat mitigation plan focused on walkers, cyclists, and transit riders. With Palm Springs accounting for most heat-related illnesses in Riverside County, the city is targeting vulnerable neighborhoods, offering food and childcare at meetings and tying the effort to this week's Extreme Heat Summit.
   

2. Airports countywide awarded funds for variety of projects (kesq.com) — Palm Springs International Airport is set to receive $140,600 in federal funding for new equipment as part of a broader $8.5 million package for Riverside County airports. While other facilities focus on runway and apron upgrades, this grant helps keep PSP's operations and safety infrastructure current for travelers and local businesses that rely on air service.
   

3. 8 Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurants to Try Across the Coachella Valley (palmspringslife.com) — If you're looking for meat-free dining close to home, this year's Best of the Best list highlights Palm Springs' own Chef Tanya's Kitchen for standout vegan sandwiches, salads, and desserts. The roundup also spotlights vegetarian and vegan favorites in nearby Coachella Valley cities, giving you plenty of options for brunch, lunch, and dinner without leaving the region.
   

4. 'Citizen Kane' Screens in Palm Springs as Family Legacy Takes Center Stage (nbcpalmsprings.com) — Palm Springs film fans just packed a local screening of "Citizen Kane," kicking off a new monthly series exploring journalism and the media. Attendees also heard personal stories from members of the Mankiewicz family, offering Palm Springs audiences a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the legacy of the classic film and its themes of power and press influence.
