Arrest No. 2 This Week For Former 49er Ray McDonald
The Santa Clara County DA is investigating details from Monday, and has yet to review Wednesday's incident.

Former San Francisco 49er player Ray McDonald was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly violating a restraining order in Santa Clara, his second arrest this week, police said.
Shortly before 3 p.m., detectives learned McDonald, 30, was at a Santa Clara home in violation of his restraining order from an alleged domestic violence and child endangerment incident earlier this week, according to police. Detectives were able to track him down to a Togo’s sandwich shop at 2203 Tasman Drive in Santa Clara, police said.
He was arrested without incident and transported to the Santa Clara Police Department for processing, according to police. He was taken to county jail, where he posted $5,000 bail later that night and was released, Santa Clara County sheriff’s Sgt. James Jensen said.

The restraining order stemmed from an incident on Monday, when Santa Clara police responded to a reported disturbance at McDonald’s home at about 4 a.m., police said. Arriving officers learned McDonald allegedly physically assaulted a female victim holding a baby, then left the home, according to police.
He was later found in the 2200 block of Terra Nova Lane in San Jose and was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence and child endangerment, police said. He posted $15,000 bail later that night and was released, Jensen said. McDonald’s arrests this week are the latest in a string of incidents within the past year.

On Aug. 31, 2014, McDonald was arrested at his home on suspicion of domestic violence on his then-pregnant fiancée, but the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office did not file charges against him, citing insufficient evidence.
Months later on Dec. 17, 2014, his home was searched by San Jose police based on a report from a woman who accused him of sexual assault, according to police. McDonald was subsequently released from the San Francisco 49ers following the sexual assault allegation after being a defensive end for the team from 2007 to 2014.
He signed a one-year deal in March with the Chicago Bears, but the team released him on Monday due to his arrest in the alleged domestic violence and child endangerment incident. “We believe in second chances, but when we signed Ray we were very clear what our expectations were if he was to remain a Bear,” general manager Ryan Pace said in a statement.
“He was not able to meet the standard and the decision was made to release him,” Pace said.
The district attorney’s office is reviewing the case regarding Monday’s incident but has yet to receive the case on Wednesday’s alleged violation.
