Renovations on the 56-year-old Rinconada Library, formerly Main Library, began in April 2013. In April 2014, City Council voted to rename the facility to tie into neighboring Rinconada Park, while also reflecting the history of the Rancho Rinconada del Arroyo de San Francisquito land grant that Palo Alto was founded on.
The renovation project incorporated upgrades to the historic buildingās structural, electrical and mechanical systems, while preserving the integrity of architect Edwards Durrell Stoneās iconic design. The updated facility includes four new study rooms, a program room, a new lobby and public restrooms, better lighting and air conditioning, ecological and building upgrades and more.

Additionally, the libraryās collection will honor its namesake by supporting the interests represented by the institutions on the Rinconada campus, including the Palo Alto Art Center, the Childrenās Theater, community gardens and the Junior Museum and Zoo. It will also host a portal to the Foundation Center, a powerful resource that helps connect customers and nonprofits to funders and grants. It will also host a local author collection.
Rinconada Library is one of five libraries and an ebranch in the Palo Alto Library system. Its library hours are Monday and Thursday, noon-8 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.
