Livermore On Edge as "Suspicious Occurrence" Reported at Arroyo Trail

The Thursday night police activity came just two days after a brutal rape.

Multiple police cars converged on the Arroyo Trail area when a “suspicious occurrence” was reported Thursday night, according to a Livermore Police spokesman.

Patch asked the spokesman directly if a rape had occurred, and the response was “no.” In addition, the spokesman says that no one is in custody.

Patch posted a small item on our Facebook page about the incident, ‘The Arroyo Trail--Livermore Police confirm that a “suspicious occurrence” took place at the trail tonight and officers are in the vicinity. No one has been taken into custody.’ Within an hour there were dozens of comments.

Residents are outraged about the latest incident, coming just two days after a brutal attack on the trail that left a woman hospitalized.

Here’s a description of Tuesday night’s attacker: a white male adult, early to mid 30s in age, with dark features (dark eyebrows, and unshaven) 5’-10” to 6’ tall weighing 180-190 lbs (stocky build), wearing a dark hooded long sleeve sweatshirt and dark colored baggy sweat pants. The suspect was described as being dirty and scruffy in appearance.

As a reminder, here are tips from the police department on safety:

  1. Be alert and aware of what is occurring around you.
  2. Don’t wear headphones covering both ears making it so you cannot hear what is occurring around you.
  3. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid unlit locations and areas secluded from public view.
  4. Walk with another person whenever possible.

  6. Report suspicious persons and behavior to the police.
