Self-Defense Basics

Would you like to know how to GUARANTEE you will be able to get out of any dangerous situation? 

The bad news: There is no guarantee. It doesn't matter who you are or what you know. There is no way to be sure we will never get into any dangerous situations or that we will be able to get out of every one unscathed.

The good news: There are things we can do to significantly increase or our chances. By using our brains and learning a few moves, we can greatly reduce our risks.

There are many classes available that can help you. But be careful! Most "martial arts studios" do not teach real martial arts. And some claiming to teach self-defense can actually get you into more trouble.  That being said, there are some great options out there for improving your skills.

The 2 important things to know are 1) Self-defense skills are more about awareness, confidence and other non-physical abilities than they are about learning some fancy moves and 2) If you do not practice your skills on a regular basis, you will lose the ability to utilize them when they are needed. One-time classes can help but reviewing the techniques and concepts is very important. Ongoing classes are ideal, whether traditional martial arts or self-defense.
