2 Palos Verdes Cities Are Among Safest In California: Study
Cities were ranked based on reported violent crimes and property crimes per 1,000 people.

PALOS VERDES, CA – Not one, but two cities in the Palos Verdes area were at the top of the list of safest cities in California – Palos Verdes Estates came in fourth, and Rancho Palos Verdes came in 11th out of the 100 cities ranked, according to The National Council for Home Safety and Security. The list, called the SafestCities in California for 2018, was formulated based on the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics, along with its own population data and internal research, which NCHSS reviewed.
Cities were then ranked based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape, and robbery) and property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft) per 1,000 people. In Palos Verdes Estates, there are 13,730 residents. Based on the data collected, there were only 4 violent crimes and 111 property crimes, which equates to 0.29 violent crimes per 1,000 people and 8.08 property crimes per 1,000 people.
In Rancho Palos Verdes there are 42,947 residents. Based on the data collected, there were 27 violent crimes and 417 property crimes, which equates to 0.63 violent crimes per 1,000 people and 9.71 property crimes per 1,000 people. That makes Palos Verdes one of the safest areas in the state!
