Brush Fire Contained In Rancho Palos Verdes

Los Angeles County firefighters have contained a four-acre brush fire in Rancho Palos Verdes.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — Firefighters have contained a brush fire that broke out in Rancho Palos Verdes Wednesday evening and several streets will remain closed, including the Switchbacks.

The brusher started just before 5 p.m. on Palos Verdes Drive South and Palos Verdes Drive East.

About four acres burned, officials said.

The fire was 50% contained after 6 p.m. and progress was stopped, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Art Marrujo.

"For the next several hours, PV Drive East will remain closed between PV Drive South and Ganado Drive (also known as the Switchbacks), though access to Mediterrania remains open. Firefighters will remain on scene this evening to monitor any potential flare-ups," officials said in a news release.

"The city is in communication with the Los Angeles County Fire Department and is monitoring the situation," according to a city news release. "Updates will be shared as they become available."
