The Associates, of Palos Verdes Art Center, October Meeting

THE ASSOCATIATES INVITES NEW

 MEMBERS TO OCTOBER PROGRAM

The Associates, one of two support groups for the Palos Verdes Art Center, invites new members to their October 27, 2011 meeting. Meetings are held at 6pm at the Palos Verdes Art Center’s new, temporary location, The Promenade on the Peninsula, 550 Deep Valley Drive, Suite 261 (former Borders Books location), Rolling Hills Estates. No reservations are required. The Associates meet the fourth Thursday of every month. Food and beverages are served at 6pm, with the program starting at 7:00pm. October’s program features San Pedro artist Candace Gawne, who exhibits her oil paintings, light sculptures and art furniture in galleries and museums all over the world. Her work is in many private and public collections.  Gawne has studied at El Camino and UCLA and has been an art instructor at Otis College of Art and Design, ISOMATA, the Cultural Affairs Department of the City of Los Angeles and Long Beach Public Schools to name a few.

            Since its founding in 1978, The Associates has raised $1 million dollars. Currently, the group’s annual fundraiser, Celebrate Chefs, a summer dinners featuring prominent South Bay chefs in fabulous Palos Verdes homes

Celebrating its 80th anniversary, The Palos Verdes Art Center / Beverly G. Alpay Center for Arts Education, is a non-profit community organization providing the South Bay with visual arts education, exhibition and outreach programming.
