Palos Verdes High Alumni Graduates From U.S. Naval Academy
A Palos Verdes High Alumni recently graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy after four years of academic and professional military training.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — A Palos Verdes High School Alumni recently graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy after four years of academic and professional military training.
Naval Academy officials said Gavin Malcolm McJones of Rancho Palos Verdes earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Robotics Engineering and a commission as a Naval Aviator. McJones follows his sister Jessica Ann McJones who has been serving as a Surface Warfare Officer in the Pacific Fleet since 2020.
During his time at the Naval Academy, McJones was a member of the Intercollegiate Sailing Team and was nominated by Congressman Ted Lieu.

Other graduates of the Naval Academy — which was founded in 1845 —include presidents, congresspeople, governors, astronauts and Nobel Prize winners.
"The U.S. Naval Academy today is a prestigious four-year service academy that prepares midshipmen morally, mentally, and physically to be professional officers in the naval service," academy officials said.
