PALOS VERDES, CA — Rancho Palos Verdes was named among the safest cities in California, according to SafeWise, an online safety resource, which analyzed the state's communities to find the 50 safest cities. For perspective, the Golden State has a total of 482 municipalities.

To compile this report, SafeWise analysts reviewed the most recent 2017 FBI crime statistics and census population data. The evaluation is based on the number of reported violent crimes in each city per 1,000 people. If there was a tie, they also factored in the number of property crimes including burglary, and car theft. Cities that fell below identified population thresholds or failed to submit a complete FBI crime report were excluded from the ranking system.

According to the SafeWise analysis, there are 42,563 residents living in Rancho Palos Verdes, but only 0.78 violent crimes per 1,000 people, and 10.48 property crimes per 1,000 people. The median income in Rancho Palos Verdes is $124,552.
