Pasadena Education Network to Host Middle School Parent Panel (pasadenanow.com) — Pasadena parents of fifth graders are invited to an in-person Middle School Parent Panel on October 7 at Norma Coombs Elementary, where they can compare PUSD middle school options and ask questions. The Pasadena Education Network is offering the program in both English and Spanish to help families feel more confident before touring campuses this fall.
   

2. At Pasadena's Longfellow Elementary, district announces tree removals amid soil cleanup (pasadenastarnews.com) — Pasadena Unified will remove several protected trees at Longfellow Elementary next week so state‑overseen crews can fully excavate soil contaminated after the Eaton Fire. After protests and a temporary pause, updated arborist findings convinced the district that bioremediation isn't feasible there, even as trees at Blair High and the Education Center are being spared.
   

3. Still profiting off the Holocaust (blogspot.com) — A new lawsuit is challenging the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena over ownership of Lucas Cranach's 1530 "Adam and Eve" paintings, which heirs say were looted during the Holocaust. The case, enabled by recent changes in California law, highlights ongoing efforts by Jewish families to reclaim Nazi-confiscated art still held by major institutions.
   

4. Supervisor Barger Honors Pasadena Police Volunteer and Foster Care Leader Kathy Hernandez (pasadenanow.com) — Pasadena resident Kathy Hernandez has been honored by Supervisor Kathryn Barger for her leadership in foster care and her volunteer work with the Pasadena Police Department's Citizens Assisting Pasadena Police program. 5. BGSU Falcon Marching Band will be the largest in Rose Parade history (sent-trib.com) — Pasadena's iconic Rose Parade will feature what's expected to be the largest marching band in its history when Bowling Green State University's 600‑member Falcon Marching Band takes the route on January 1. Organizers say the high‑energy college group met strict musical, technical, and spirit standards, promising a massive, crowd‑pleasing presence along the city's 5.5‑mile parade corridor.
