2 Killed In Head-On Crash On Valley Ford Road Identified

The fatality victims, from Petaluma and Santa Rosa, died from injuries sustained in the Sonoma County collision, CHP said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office has identified two people who were killed in a head-on collision on Valley Ford Road west of Petaluma on Monday as James Wheelock, 57, of Petaluma, and Carl Levine, 66, of Santa Rosa.

Wheelock and Levine were riding in a Nissan pickup truck west on Valley Ford Road near Walker Ranch Road in the Two Rock area of unincorporated Sonoma County around 11:20 a.m. when a 72-year-old Sacramento
woman traveling east on Valley Ford Road turned left directly onto the path of the truck, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Wheelock and Levine were trapped in the Nissan truck and died of their injuries at the scene, according to the CHP.

The Sacramento woman suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital. The collision is under investigation and intoxication does not appear to be a factor in the collision, CHP officials said.

The collision closed Valley Ford Road until shortly after 3 p.m.

Two men in a pickup were killed and a woman was injured Monday when their truck and car collided at the intersection of Valley Ford and Walker Ranch roads in Sonoma County, according to authorities.

A Lexus driven by the woman, 72 of Sacramento, was heading east at 11:20 p.m. on Valley Ford, approaching Walker Ranch, and began a left turn directly into the path of an oncoming Nissan pickup truck that was traveling west on Valley Ford, leading to the fatal head-on crash, the California Highway Patrol said today.

The driver of the Nissan, a 66-year-old man from Santa Rosa, and his passenger, a 57-year-old Petaluma man, were trapped in the pickup truck and succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision, the CHP said.

The Lexus driver was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries, officials said.

The collision remains under investigation, but intoxication does not appear to be a factor, officials said.
