911 Call Leads To Standoff, Arrest In Santa Rosa: Police
A Santa Rosa man was taken into custody on suspicion of false imprisonment, making terrorist threats and violating his parole, police said.
SANTA ROSA, CA — A Santa Rosa man was taken into custody after a standoff early Thursday that began when officers responded to a 911 call about a suspected domestic violence incident, police said.
Santa Rosa police officers were dispatched at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday to the area of Chanate Road and Montecito Avenue when an unknown person called 911 from a cell phone in that general area.
"The call taker was unable to get any information from the caller and could only hear arguing in the background of the call," Santa Rosa police said in a news release. "It appeared a male and a female were involved in the argument and the male was threatening to kill the female. Officers were dispatched to the general area of the call based on GPS coordinates from the 911 call."

After searching the area for several minutes, officers found the two involved parties. While the involved man was focusing on the police presence, the involved woman was able to escape, police said.
"The officers secured the female and determined the male was inside the residence and refusing to come out," police said. "They learned the male had threatened to kill the female and held her against her will for a period of time before she was able to escape."

When the man refused to come out, more officers responded and surrounded the residence to prevent his escape, police said.
"Officers then began a dialogue with the male through an open window of the residence," police said. "The male made many statements about wanting to die and killing himself. Officers negotiated with the male for over an hour and eventually convinced him to exit the residence peacefully."
The man was identified by police as Kaleb Samuel Herrguth, 29, of Santa Rosa. Herrguth was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, making terrorist threats and violating his parole, police said.
"Officers also obtained a bail enhancement for Herrguth based on the totality of the circumstances," police said.
Sonoma County jail records showed Herrguth remained in custody late Thursday morning in lieu of $60,000 bail.
