American Legion Petaluma Sends Six Boys to California Boys State
Juniors from Casa Grande, Petaluma, St. Vincent High Schools sent as delegates to California Boys State in June

American Legion member Steven Kemmerle has been involved with California Boys State for 16 years. When he started working with the Boys State program one boy from each of the local High Schools were selected. Gradually, the number of boys chosen for Boys State has increased. This year 2 boys have been chosen from each of the 3 High Schools.
California Boys State is a highly regarded program acknowledged by many universities. The four Academies rank students on 100 points, but going to Boys State gives a candidates 10 points toward
the 100 points. One Annapolis student was chosen because, he attended California Boys State as a Petaluma delegate.
Each of the 3 High School selected candidates for Boys State. Students must be juniors with high scholastic and community involvement.

American Legion Petaluma Post 28 interviewed the selected candidates and chose the delegates.
The delegates will depart June 15/16 2018. The American Legion Petaluma Post 28 covers the cost of transportation and attending California Boys State.
