Attempted Booze Thief Sought By Petaluma PD

PETALUMA, CA – A man reportedly trying to swipe a bottle of alcohol this afternoon from the Petaluma Grocery Outlet was thwarted by a store employee, according to police.

The suspect, described as a white male about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 30 years old, was spotted at 12:16 p.m. purportedly concealing inside his jacket a bottle from a display shelf and then trying to leave the store at 80 East Washington Street, the Petaluma Police Department said.

"The store manager confronted the suspect and asked him to stop and to return the item," police said. "The suspect attempted to push past the manager, and a physical confrontation ensued between the two."

The manager grabbed back the merchandise, and the suspect fled before police arrived, the agency said.

The suspect was wearing blue jeans, tan pants, a black hoodie and black shoes, police said.
