Witnesses to the Ford leaving the scene said they could see empty beer cans being thrown from the Ford.
The Ford was stopped by officers on North McDowell Blvd. a short distance from the scene of the collision. Officers contacted the driver, who was later identified as Jesus Oroscocota, 38, of Novato, and the passenger, who was later identified as Marissa Ariascordova, 38, of Novato. Officers observed major front-end damage to the vehicle and the airbags had deployed inside the Ford F-150.
As officers attempted to question Oroscocota he became combative with officers and had to be restrained in handcuffs. During the brief struggle he kicked an officer in the leg. The officer was not injured. While speaking with officers the odor of alcohol was detected coming from Oroscocota, along with his speech appearing to be slurred and he was unsteady on his feet.
Oroscocota originally gave a false name and date of birth, and after learning of his correct name it was learned he had outstanding warrants out of Marin County and he was also the restrained person in a domestic violence restraining order.
The passenger, Ariascordova, was the protected person and should not have been with Oroscocota. Ariascordova also attempted to mislead officers as to her identity. Once her true name was learned, it was discovered she had an outstanding warrant from Marin County for assault with a deadly weapon.
The driver, Oroscocota, was booked into Sonoma County Jail on $100,000 bail for felony DUI, felony hit and run traffic collision, giving false information to a police officer, misdemeanor battery on a police officer, violation of a domestic violence restraining order, driving on a suspended driver’s license and four outstanding warrants from Marin County.
The passenger, Ariascordova, was booked into Sonoma County Jail for giving false information to a police officer and the outstanding $25,000 warrant.
The 78-year-old driver of the Chevrolet pickup was transported to Santa Rosa memorial Hospital where he was treated for abrasions to his arms and complaint of pain to his back and released.
After Oroscocota and Ariascordova were booked into jail police learned the Ford F-150 had been stolen from a construction site in Petaluma earlier in the day. Petaluma Police will be conducting a follow up investigation and seek charges for theft of a motor vehicle on both Oroscocota and Ariascordova.
