E-Moto Chase Leads To A Petaluma Junior High

PETALUMA, CA — Petaluma police are seeking the public’s help to identify an electric motorcycle rider who led officers on a chase through Petaluma.

Investigators said the rider ran red lights and stop signs, drove on the wrong side of the road, used sidewalks, cut through parks, and fled through a school campus while police chased him.

A Petaluma police motor officer spotted the rider about 2:22 p.m. Wednesday performing wheelies on an electric motorcycle while traveling northbound in southbound lanes on North McDowell Boulevard near Corona Road, according to a police.

When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the rider sped away, triggering a pursuit through nearby neighborhoods surrounding Kenilworth Junior High School, police said.

Officers followed the rider before ending the chase when he entered the school area. The driver was later seen near Dover Way and Landsdowne Way, but officers were unable to stop him.

The rider was described as a man between 18 and 25 years old, with black hair and a goatee, wearing a gray beanie and all black clothing. Police said he was riding an all-black electric motorcycle with bright orange wheels.
