Robin Bliss-Wagner's enthusiasm and curiosity for primitive skills, deep nature connection, and mentoring have led him from tracking at the Institute of Nature Awareness with Jon Young, to graduate from UC Santa Cruz in Bioregional Studies, and later from the Kamana Naturalist Training Program. He spent a year in RDNA's Native Eyes, herded sheep at Black Mesa, and then spent two seasons with Lynx Vilden in the Methow Valley, WA and the White Cloud Peaks, Idaho during the prep- and completion of Lynx's 2011 Stone Age Living Project.
What was "The Project"? We started in mid-April as snow melted in the Cascades. We made fire kits with stone tools, gathered and preserved roots, berries and edible lichen; butchered a bison for food, tools, and meat; tanned hides into buckskin clothing; made bows, arrows, and countless other items! Dietary restrictions began August 1st when we gradually transitioned to a 100% wild foods diet. This preparation period ended in mid-August when we walked into the White Cloud Mountains of Idaho with zero modern items--no knife, water filter, sleeping bag, tent, boots, or trail mix. Eric Valli, National Geographic photographer and director, joined us with his film crew (from March of the Penguins) to make a documentary...This was an amazing experience!...I would love to see you and share the film that came from this adventure.
