CAPS Productions in association with the Sonoma Theatre Alliance, and the Sonoma/Petaluma State Historic Parks Association, is producing “Two Gentlemen of Verona Sonoma” to support the Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park. The production is a lively adaptation of William Shakespeare’s first comedy restaged in pre 1840’s Northern California with Sonoma and Petaluma replacing Verona and Milan. Historical figures General Vallejo,(Petaluman Neal Fishman) and Captain John Sutter(David O’Connell) make appearances as Shakespeare’s Duke of Milan and Thurio. The production will be staged against the historic backdrop of the courtyard of the Petaluma Adobe. Director, Lucas McClure, has assembled a cast of professional actors including Aidan O’Reilly as Valentine, as well as veteran actors from Sonoma State, Solano College Theatre and Marin Shakespeare Festival. This is Shakespeare’s only play with a dog so the cast includes Jasper, a roly-poly chihuahua, who just might steal the show.
Show times are Saturdays and Sundays August 11,12,18,19,25,26. The Petaluma Adobe is located at 3325 Adobe Road, Petaluma. Gates open at 6:00PM Show at 7:00PM. Bring a pre show picnic or buy dinner from one of the food trucks. There will be a coffee wagon as well as guest wineries pouring. This is an out of doors production so patrons should dress appropriately.
Tickets are $22 available through the Sonoma Community Center Box Office either on line at sonomacommunitycenter.org or by calling 938 4626.
