Fundraiser Coming Up For 'Mrs. Petaluma Pete' Battling Rare Stage-4 Cancer

The community is rallying for "Sweet Brenda," local resident, regional booster and proprietor of the now-shuttered French Hen Antiques.

PETALUMA, CA –Family and friends of longtime Petaluma resident Brenda Maher, owner of French Hen Antiques and the wife of John "Petaluma Pete" Maher, has organized a fundraiser at Sauced BBQ Restaurant on Monday, Dec. 5 to help support Brenda and her family as she battles a rare Stage-4 cancer.

Ten percent of all eatery sales from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. will be donated to Maher's GoFundMe account.

Brenda recently liquidated her antique store, French Hen, which was on Petaluma Boulevard North. Her husband of 44 years, John, is a marketing promoter and a local treasure playing piano in the streets as "Petaluma Pete."

"They are a loving and important part of our family undergoing a great financial and emotional burden," said "Sweet Brenda's" sister-in-law, who launched the online fundraiser. "We would like to raise the funds as soon as possible in order to help; this means so much to me as they've spent so many years strengthening Petaluma; they are giving up their antique business and selling their home just to fight this fight."

To date, $19,850 has been raised toward the GoFundMe's $25,000 goal. See page here.
