Gas Line Rupture A 'Dangerous Situation' In Petaluma: Police
The public should avoid the Walnut Park area until further notice, police said.
PETALUMA, CA — An evacuation order for Petaluma Boulevard South near Walnut Park was lifted Thursday afternoon, about four hours after Petaluma police urged the public to stay away because a gas line ruptured.
"Petaluma Fire has lifted the stay away order, residents and businesses can reopen," police said via Nixle at 2 p.m.
Police said Petaluma Boulevard South would remain closed for repairs between D Street and F Street.

Community members were initially advised of the gas line rupture around 10:15 p.m. when police sent a Nixle alert.
"Petaluma Police is alerting residents to a dangerous situation. Stay out of the area of Walnut Park: Petaluma Blvd S from C St to G St and 4th St to 2nd St due to a gas line rupture until further notice."
