SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Look hoo the California Highway Patrol recently picked up.

Santa Rosa CHP Officer Tyukayev and his partner Officer Gilbert were on routine patrol early Thursday morning on Stony Point Road and Roblar Road when they came across this owl standing in the middle of the road.

"Officers drove closer and the new officer did a great job to slow and maneuver the patrol vehicle around the owl, because the owl never moved," CHP Officer David deRutte said. "The officers think it had already been hit and was possibly stunned."

The officers checked on the owl, worried it may be injured. The owl let the officers pick it up and it was taken to Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue.

It appeared to be a Great Horned Owl but we'll let you know for sure if we get an update from the rescue center on the owl's condition.
